TAOP Focal Lengths.

Outline: To take a sequence of photographs of a fixed subject using a range of lenses, from wide angle to telephoto.

At a visit to a nearby beach, I decided to photograph the big lifeguard station that sits proudly overlooking the two adjoining beaches.

1: 18mm
The subject (the lifeguard station) is barely visible at the widest angle.

2: 24mm

3: 35mm
The subject is becoming more prominent now.

4: 55mm
Letters can be seen on the side of the subject here, but unreadable as yet.

5: 80mm

6: 100mm

Here we can clearly read the writing.

7: 135mm

8: 200mm
The subject is completely clear and small details can now be seen.

Conclusion:
There is an enormous difference between image 1 and image 8, but you can see that image 8 is an exact replica of a small portion of image 1. The telephoto lens magnifies the subject but the appearance of the subject does not change at all from the wide angle image.
