I have decided to create my photographs based around the subject of flowers and plants.
I have now received my tutor feedback and will make notes and amendments in 'Red'.
Single point dominating the the composition:
I love the colour of this flower and composed the photograph so that the background was all foilage so that the flower really stands out.
Two Points:
Again with this photograph, I tried to keep the background of the image as green as possible, so that the two points really stand out.
Several points in a deliberate shape:
This group of flowers make a natural 'V' or oval shape which I felt was an appropriate addition for the points in a deliberate shape.
A combination of vertical and horizontal lines:
I have included the first image here as I really like how straight and tall the stems of the flowers are and together with the leaves, think they make wonderful vertical lines through the photograph.
The second image combines the vertical stems of the flowers together with the horizontal planting of the garden, to create horizontal and vertical lines in the image.
My tutor felt that the top picture here represented vertical and diagonal lines here but the bottom picture is a bit too 'busy'. She advised me that it may be better to create a panoramic of the top flowers in this original image to create better lines.

Diagonals:
I really love this photograph and wanted to use the beautiful colours of the streaks in the petals to create the diagonal lines through the photograph. I am really happy with how this image turned out.
Curves:
I have used this image of snowdrops to convey curved lines in this image. I love how the stems have the natural curve so that the flowers hang underneath them.
Distinct shapes:
My favourite flowers are Gerberas and I wanted to include one if I could. They have such a distinct circular shape, I decided to use flower for this photograph.
My tutor liked this image. Although she explained that the colour seemed 'not quite right' and that it may work best in black and white. I have therefore amended as such.

At least two kinds of implied triangle:
This image is of a rectangular flower bed. I experimented with the angle of view here to create an implied triangle, using the corner of the flower bed as the point of the 'inverted triangle'.
These flowers have just bloomed on my kitchen plant. By using a macro lens I have used this as an implied triangle, using the five white ends as the 'base' of the triangle which collect to the middle of the flower, which completes the triangle.
My tutor reported back to me that although this is a good image and she can see what i was trying to achieve however the red on red is difficult to see and the lighting is slightly wrong. I am unable to retake this image as, unfortunately, the flowers have now fallen off my plant.

Rhythm:
Another flower bed here, with a specific planting sequence which mixed with the angle to create the perspective, we can see a definite rhythm.
Pattern:
I tried to keep this image simple and kept the framing tight to the flowers to make it seem that this could be a field of them as opposed to a small display.
My tutor felt that this image did not really represent 'Pattern' and that a close up of the colours could relay 'pattern' a bit clearer. I decided to try a different photograph which is a close up and highlights the pattern of the flowers instead.

Rhythms and Patterns
I like your image for rhythm, the perspective works well to lead your eye into the image. I like the way that you have filled the frame so that you are unable to tell, as a viewer, how large this roof is. This helps with the feeling of rhythm as you can imagine the rhythm outside of the image too.
Your pattern image could be improved by the pattern being more uniform, filling the image with balls that were all touching. Also the lighting seems a little flat. I do like the idea of the image though and the fact that the pattern continues beyond the edges of the frame.
Single point dominating the composition
This image shows a single point well, I like the fact that you have chosen to use shallow depth of field to really make the flower stand out against the background. The composition is off centre and well balanced. I really like the lighting that you have observed here too.
Two Points
The contrast of red and green emphasizes the two focal points within this image. I like your use of depth of field here as well as the angle you have chosen to take the image from. It creates a real sense of depth. The implied diagonal line between the two red flowers also makes the image more dynamic.
Several Points in a deliberate shape
The viewpoint here again works well, the oval shape really leads your eye around the image.
A combination of vertical and horizontal lines
I think the top image says vertical and diagonal lines to me but not really horizontal. The second shows horizontal lines as well but I can’t help thinking that there is a lot going on within this image. Maybe you could have gone in closer or perhaps made a panoramic of the top of the image, with the horizontal line implied by the pink flowers and the vertical lines by the stems.
Diagonals
The lines of these flowers make brilliant, natural diagonal lines, I love the contrast of the red against the white petals. I like the composition you have used too, with the centre of the flower placed in the lower third with the diagonal lines leading from this.
Curves
This image again has a strong sense of depth, I love the lighting here which really emphasizes the curve of the stems.
Distinct Shapes
The circle of the inside of the flower and then the petals is really obvious here, I quite like the idea of holding the flower for the image but find the lighting a little harsh and there is something not quite right about the colour also. I wonder if it may work better in black and white?
Implied Triangles
This implied triangle works well, too sides are there for you to see and the way that you have composed the shot leads your brain to fill in the other side.
The second one, I can see what you were trying to achieve and I like the image but think with more careful lighting you could have made the stamens stand out more as it is red on red and therefore difficult to see the implied triangles.
Rhythm
This image works well to show rhythm, I like the diagonal lines and the colours especially.
Pattern
It is difficult to find pattern in the natural world, I think that this doesn’t really scream out pattern to me personally. Maybe going a little closer to create a pattern of the colours and shapes in a more distinct way might have improved the image a little?

The learning log is looking good, please make sure you note down photographers you have looked at, exhibitions you have been to etc. and reflections on these.
